TE 891 - Concepts of Educational Inquiry (Inquiry, Interpretation, and Criticism)
(Spring 2008)
Professor: S. WEILAND
TE891 was an introductory course that explored questions about education. We looked into what research says about education, John Dewey’s philosophy, and how our own thoughts fit into this. We examined materials online that were in many different formats, including books, videos, and audio information. It was up to us to determine how to accept and use the information to better our understanding and also become more effective educators.
CEP 800 - Psychology of Learning in School and Other Settings
(Spring 2008)
Professor: C. Roseth, Ph.D.
CEP800 focused not only on what was presented by the instructor, but we also considered our past experiences into the understanding. We examined different models and concepts within the education system and related our emotional perceptions. A major focus of the course was looking at how others learn compared to how we learn ourselves.

TE 836 - Awards & Classics of Children’s Literature
(Spring 2008)
Professor: Dr. L. Apol
TE836 focused mostly on the awards in Children’s Literature. We looked at what those awards are, how they are determined, and winners of these awards. We also compared these award winners with other winners. In addition, we looked into what types of books are considered classics and why. Finally, we talked about the impact books can have on children when used in the classroom.
TE 846 - Accommodating Differences in Literacy Learners
(Fall 2010)
Professors: J Knight, T. Gustafson, R. Stanulis
TE846 directed us to look into literacy instruction and assessment more in depth. We reviewed the importance of literacy in order for students to be successful in all areas. We also looked at how literacy teaching can be integrated and adapted to meet all student needs including students with cultural differences and those who are not motivated. The heart of all of this was the ways that we could effectively teach literacy to all students in our classroom.
